It may sound a bit useless, but it's mostly for the immersion:

-In the nothern parts of the map, cities, forests and villages are covered in snow.

-In the southern parts of the map, cities, forests and villages are in a desert.

-A more realistic texture for the journal (like the one for the map).

-A more medieval-ish font.

I agree with all of them.

Font is ugly like other parts of interface and will be replaced.
To make snow and desert parts of the map we need more graphic. Maybe later
